Following the AGM, the FoBAH project “Birmingham Children Of War’, funded by the HLF, will be sharing their findings on the experiences of children in Birmingham during the 1914 – 1918 War. There will be an exhibition of archive material and mini talks in the Wolfson Centre with archive film footage (see e-flyer here).
A children’s trail and craft activities will be running, and we hope a choir will be singing first world war songs on the ground floor. Volunteers have been researching themes relevant to children such as education, health, nursery provision, youth justice, scouts and Belgian refugees; there is a wealth of material in the archives and a learning guide is being produced to assist future researchers.
Other projects researching archives involving volunteers are being considered, and if anyone is interested in joining the group of volunteers please let us know.
