On Tuesday 1st November, Liz Palmer, Project Manager for the Birmingham Children of War project, lead a free workshop about the use of newspapers for researching the First World War. The afternoon focused on Birmingham newspapers and included an overview of those available and how to access them. The main regional newpapers covering 1914-1918 have been digitised and are available online at the subscription site www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk. The workshop covered aspects of searching online, how to bookmark articles of interest and how to download and print them. While the workshop was aimed primarily at volunteers involved with WW1 projects, participation was extended to all FoBAH members.
